Killing Me Slowly

Are you poisoning yourself unknowingly while trying to shed a few pounds? When people go on diets, the first thing they do is turn to low fat and sugar free crap.

When you hear sugar free, you can be assured that there is some sort of artificial sweetener in there. The most commonly used is aspartame. Aspartame use has been linked to cancer, migraines, depression, tumors and neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and ALS. This toxic chemical is found in diet sodas, gum, desserts, over-the-counter drugs and even in children’s vitamins.

The rising epidemic of obesity, where now more than 70% of the population is considered overweight, is what fueled an increase in use of artificial sweeteners.

Even after years of research demonstrating poor health outcomes, the use of aspartame continues to be supported by industry-funded research. In fact the only research that supports this claim of being safe is industry funded. Independent sources that don’t have their hand in the pot, have directly linked aspartame to cancer and a host of conditions such as name above.

The major components of aspartame are methanol, phenylalanine and aspartic acid. Once the methanol breaks away from the phenylalanine, it converts to formaldehyde-a known carcinogen and deadly neurotoxin. Phenylalanine depletes your brain of serotonin and there’s the link to depression.

You must stop drinking and using aspartame and do your own research. If you think the FDA is watching out for you, think again. The FDA still considers this deadly toxin safe despite the research. In fact, they have a page to report injuries or illness related to aspartame but still deny that it is killing people.

California has called to have mandatory warning labels on all products containing aspartame and artificial sweeteners. If you’ve been affected, you can report it here
