Conquering Fear

Have you ever felt fear?  Of course you have.  We all have.  Fear is an emotion that is triggered by our perceived threat of danger.  It is one of the most basic human survival responses.  However, when fear paralyzes us not because we are in immediate danger, but because we fear the unknown, it becomes the killer of success.


Fear and anxiety comes from uncertainty or lack of directed focus or not knowing what you truly want in your life. This causes emotions to take over and bad decisions to be made.  Fear and anxiety can ruin your most important relationships, your career and even your health.  Our bodies can’t tell the difference between a real and immediate threat to your wellbeing and you just stressing about every little thing in your life. Fear causes a hormone called cortisol to be produced by the adrenal glands.  This hormone that is so good for you when the saber tooth tiger is coming at you can also be the sinister character that causes weight gain, sleep disruption, high blood pressure, mood swings and depression.

How do you conquer fear?  Glad you asked:

  1. Know what you want
  2. Make a plan
  3. Take massive action
  4. Get a coach or accountability partner
  5. If the path that you’re on isn’t working take an alternate route
  6. Watch your self talk 
  7. Keep tabs on your emotions and ask yourself if a friend was coming to you with a similar situation, “what would you tell them?”
  8. Trust that the universe is not going to give you more than you can handle
  9. Let go of the outcome

In life, you must take risks.  It can be a bit scary but it’s ok to feel a bit of fear and even anxiety of the unknown.  The problem comes in when you let it take over your life and irrational fear paralyzes you from manifesting your epic life. 

Stop the madness and kick fear in the ass.  Go for the new exciting job, ask the cutie patootie on a date, take that trip, buy that house or car, treat yourself to a new wardrobe.  Just do something you’ve never done before and slowly start to crawl out of the fear zone and blossom into the confident badass you are.
