Your perception is your reality!

Have you ever made a judgement on something and shared it with a friend and they were shocked that you even thought of it that way?  Our perception is shaped by the way we were brought up, religion, teachings, culture and way of thinking but is it really truth?   Are we mistaking how we understand things for how they really are?  Perhaps it’s just that our thoughts and feeling seem so real to us that we draw a conclusion that that’s how it really is. I usually walk or jog 3 miles 3-4 times per week and often take the same path because I have it mapped out and I know the shortcuts in case of emergency.  So about a week ago, I said to my husband "I don’t really feel like going for a jog today, I’m getting bored with it”.  I was getting tired of the same people, homes, etc.  So he suggested we take the same route in reverse.  For the first time I saw people, homes, landscape, pets, pools, lakes that I hadn’t seen before.  I was amazed at how when I changed the perspective/direction/view/etc. my reality totally changed.

So what will you do next time that you’re caught in a “perceived” negative situation?  What sometimes may appear to be be, may not be at all.  Ask for someone else’s take or simply look at it from another’s point of view.
